During the Power & Energy Week 2016, as a Knowledge Partner of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resource (MoPEMR), Government of Bangladesh (GoB), IPAG organized a seminar on “International Best Practices in Power & Energy Sector: Lessons for South Asia and Bangladesh” on December 2016 at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The ‘National Power & Energy Week-2016’ was an appropriate occasion to understand and appreciate the significance and lessons to be learned from the knowledge industry in positive value addition to this sector. From leading consulting firms to think tanks, from research outfits to academia, the intellectual prowess of the knowledge industry in propelling the development and growth of the energy sector can hardly be overemphasized. Towards that end, the panel discussion session ‘International Best Practices in Power and Energy Sector: Lessons for Bangladesh and South Asia’ provided a platform to the stakeholders in the energy sector as well as the leaders of the knowledge industry to have focused and curated discussions on the outcomes of ensuring international best practices in the power and energy sectors across South Asia.
The session was participated by leading consulting firms and think tanks from around the world which include McKinsey & Company, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), General Electric (GE) Energy Consulting, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, and Energy Studies Institute (ESI) of National University of Singapore (NUS). It aimed at promoting cooperation between the government and knowledge industry players like the think tanks, consultancy firms, academia, and civil societies to facilitate knowledge transfer, capacity building, which will strengthen the process of effective policy formulation, informed decision making, business friendly regulatory framework, and cleaner and greener energy for sustainable development in Bangladesh.
