The Bangladesh Power Summit 2017 (BPS2017) was held on July in Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. Over 300 decision makers and senior representatives from government and representatives from across the value chain of power industry were brought together under one roof to discuss the latest development of Bangladesh power market and investment opportunities. The summit’s aim was to share and learn from the existing players’ successful stories and experience, gain the latest market information of Bangladesh power industry, establish lasting partnership to drive the future growth in the power-starved booming market, enhance brand exposure and thought leadership in the region. Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Adviser to Hon’ble Prime Minister for Energy, Power and Mineral Resources and Mr. Nasrul Hamid, Hon’ble State Minister to Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, were among the eminent speakers. The key topic areas included: power generation, transmission and distribution, smart metering, plant O&M, LNG, Clean coal power etc.

Mr. Syed Munir Khasru, Chairman, The Institute for Policy, Advocacy & Governance (IPAG) made the keynote presentation on “Energy for Peace: The Unexplored Potential of South Asia” in the concluding session which was attended by the Hon’ble State Minister Hon’ble State Minister to Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources.
