The 2015 China Emerging Economies Society Annual Meeting and Emerging Economies Forum – a three day long international conference was held in Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center, Guangzhou, China from December 04-06, 2015. The forum brought together experts and policy makers from emerging economies to deliberate on the necessity of innovative development of the emerging economies as well construction of China Pilot Free Zone. A total of 180 participants, including 30 international experts attended the forum.
The event was organized by some of the most prestigious institutions in China such as Guangdong Emerging Economies Society, School of Economics and Commerce, Guangdong University of Technology and Center for BRICS Studies. The Research & Training Institute, Boao Forum for Asia acted as strategic partner in the event.
Mr. Syed Munir Khasru the chairman of IPAG, was one of the key note speakers in the thematic discussion following the opening ceremony Structural Reforms and Cooperative Mechanism Innovation in Emerging Economies and gave a presentation on ‘One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiatives of China. In his presentation, he shared the Chinese ambition and aspiration of OBOR as well as key challenges that lie ahead. He also recommended a PRICE (Political Consensus, Realistic, Inclusive, Complementary, and Economically Viable) model as a way forward to achieve the targets of OBOR.
Ms. Orpita Oysharja, Senior Research Associate of IPAG, also was the keynote speaker on the thematic session on Innovative Development of Emerging Economies and Construction of China Pilot free Trade Zone. Her speech was on Inclusive Regional Economic Integration: SME Participation in GVCs.
